A multi-coloured Fox & Chave silk habotai scarf with a design featuring elements from the painting Improvisation No.30 by Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944).

Improvisation No. 30, subtitled 'Cannons', painted in 1913, represents a pivotal moment in the artist's breakthrough into abstraction. As part of his seminal Improvisation series, works intended to channel unconscious, spiritual impulses rather than external reality, the painting balances on the precipice of pure non-objectivity.

While Kandinsky sought to liberate colour and form from literal representation, the looming threat of the First World War infiltrates the canvas. Discernible mechanised artillery are evident, amidst a collapsing cityscape rendered in an explosion of chaotic, vibrant brushstrokes. It exemplifies how the series translated inner psychological states and cosmic premonitions into a revolutionary, abstract visual language.
