DESIGNER'S NOTES

A floral Fox & Chave silk tie featuring a design created from an element of the still life study entitled A Bouquet of Pink Peonies, (1873) by the Danish-French Impressionist painter Camille Pissarro (1830-1903).

In 1873, Camille Pissarro was at a pivotal creative zenith, living in Pontoise and solidifying the Impressionist movement alongside Monet and Renoir. While predominantly a landscaper, his still life study A Bouquet of Pink Peonies reveals his mastery of light and form within a domestic setting.

The work features lush, heavy-headed peonies captured with the rapid, 'comma' brushstrokes characteristic of his mature style. Eschewing the rigid formalisms of academic still lifes, Pissarro focuses on the tactile quality of the petals and the interplay of shadows. Painted just one year before the first Impressionist Exhibition in 1874, this piece demonstrates his transition toward a brighter, more atmospheric palette.
